If you’re the kind of adrenaline junkie who finds cycling in London just a bit too tranquil, then we’ve some exciting news for you. Red Hook Criterium, a new fast-paced bike race for riders of fixed-gear bicycles (the gearless, brakeless ones favoured by hipsters), is coming to the Greenwich Peninsula on July 11.

Attracting everyone from weekend warriors to professional road racers, bike messengers to urban commuters, the event is already a big hit in New York, Milan and Barcelona. And now it’s London’s turn for a fast fixie fix. Two-hundred speed demons, including 50 Brits, have already signed up to take on the newly built, highly technical street circuit in Greenwich. Turn up and cheer on the potential carnage for free.
