We all know the ideal work-out playlist features some serious beats and a lot of bass. But that's not usually the case when it comes to yoga. The ancient exercise is usually accompanied by Tibetan bowls, bells and wind chimes. Y'know, gentle, sleepy stuff.

But DoomYinYoga are one of a number of yogis changing all that, by holding yoga classes to heavy metal music. The classes are a 'slow vinyasa based yoga practice with a strong emphasis on restorative Yin focused postures' and they are all to the soundtrack of doom metal. Apparently the intensity of the music, which is from the slower end of the heavy metal spectrum, improves strength, releases tension and helps participants hold poses for longer.

'The experience is very immersive. We fill the space with candle light and the practice is very deep and meditative,' say founders Kamellia and Sanna, adding: 'We begin with mantra and pranayama move into asana and end in meditation.'

Sounds like a pretty awesome way to start the weekend, if you ask us.

DoomYinYoga is at Miranda, Ace Hotel tomorrow at 7pm. You can buy tickets here.
