Forget the sterile swiping of Tinder, Bompas & Parr have partnered up with Stonewall to bring you a new LGBT dating night, and it's all about getting up close and personal... with your date's armpits. Sounds gross, right? But it's not totally bonkers - there's science involved. Honest.
The idea is that body odour is influenced by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules, which are genetically determined. And all that stuff about opposites attracting is kind of true – experiments have shown that we tend to find potential sexual partners more attractive if their MHC composition is different to our own.
Each participant will smell each other using nifty nosing cones, before grading their reactions on cards and being matched up. Your ticket gets you a free drink on arrival plus two rounds of armpit sniffing – one with a bag over your head. And they say romance is dead.
