For the last 80 years, Alexandra Palace has been harbouring a secret. Behind the walls of the East Wing sits an old, decadent Victorian theatre, which could soon be reopened with your help.

Alexandra Palace has now launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to restore the theatre to its former glory. It was built in the 1870s and once staged operas, musicals, plays and early cinema screenings within its once lavishly decorated walls. It's considered an architectural gem, and looking at the photos you can see why.

Thankfully, Ally Pally aims to retain the original features and historic wall painting, but will spruce it up with modern technical facilities.

Donations can be made here: £25 gets your name on the donor board in the East Court, while £900 gets you a plaque, your name on one of the 1,300 seats and a preview tour of the site.
