Gone but not forgotten, 'ghost signs' are old hand-painted advertisements painted by sign writers who often scaled great heights to ensure the message was seen from afar. Popular until the 1960s when printed signs and billboards became commonplace, many of the brands shown no longer exist so these signs act as faded echos of the past.
