Movie magic in the making? Johnny Depp has been cast in the upcoming sequel to 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them'.

The 53-year-old actor is set to have a 'co-starring role' opposite Eddie Redmayne in the second movie, which is set to start filming early next year. But we might not have to wait that long to catch a glimpse of Depp in Newt's magical universe. 'If you look carefully, you might spot him in a tiny turn in the first instalment of the J.K. Rowling-created Harry Potter spinoff,' report Deadline

Depp's exact role is yet to be revealed, but it could see him become a big part of JK Rowling's Wizarding World. There are five movies, after all, and a lot of potential directions for the storyline to go in.

But we wouldn't be surprised if Depp, who already has countless fantasy films on his screen CV, turns out to be playing Gellert Grindelwald, the most dangerous dark wizard of all time before Voldemort stepped on to the scene and the wizard Dumbledore famously faced in an epic duel.

Fans in the magic corners of the internet were quick to start questioning whether this is Depp as Grindelwald in a recently released featurette.

It is just a happy coincidence that Warner Bros have just released a clip of fellow 'Fantastic Beasts' star Ezra Miller getting seriously excited about the inclusion of Grindelwald?

Maybe. But probably not.

'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' is in UK cinemas November 18.
