A while back, we published a list of the 50 Best Star Wars Characters and invited you, the readers to vote for your favourites. Well, the results are in – and they may surprise you

You agree with us about the top two places in the list, and how could you not – Darth Vader is the greatest screen villain of all time, and Han Solo is the hero we all still want to be, despite recent events. Indeed, the entire top ten stays relatively faithful to our list, with the likes of Yoda, Obi-Wan and R2-D2 all holding steady (though sadly, Princess Leia has dropped a few places).

But the big news comes when we hit the teens: despite their reputation as pure nerd-poison, it seems you like the characters in the prequel trilogy a fair bit more than we did. Places 11 to 14 are pure prequel, bumping up characters like noble Qui-Gon Jinn, villainous General Grievous and wisecracking Mace Windu to prime positions (though poor old Supreme Chancellor Valorum, the fusty politician played by British acting legend Terence Stamp, has earned himself the sad title of Least Favourite Character Ever).

We're all set to update our 50 Best Characters list to include 'The Force Awakens' – and when we do, you'll once more get the chance to vote for your favourites. In the meantime, head to www.timeout.com/starwars for loads more in-depth coverage, interviews, reviews and funny stuff – basically, everything you need to know about the 'Star Wars' universe.
