Thought 2016 couldn't get any more ridiculous? Julian Assange's cat has just been papped while dressed up in a collar and tie and hanging out in the window of the Ecuadorian embassy.

The cat, (which goes by the Twitter handle @EmbassyCat) was spotted in the window of the Ecuadorian embassy in London today as WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange faced questioning by prosecutors over rape allegations, which he denies.

The ridiculously cute cat provided ample entertainment (and a convenient distraction) for the media as it watched from the window wearing a white collar shirt and red striped tie.

Assange has been living in the embassy, with his cat for company, for the last four years and believes he will be extradited to the United States for questioning over the activities of WikiLeaks if he leaves.

The Embassy Cat, which was a gift from his children, is apparently interested in 'counter-purrveillance' and has been known to sleep in a top hat. So, make of that what you will.
