Summer's here, it's official. Finchley's Jewish community centre, JW3, has raked tons of sand into its courtyard and is opening the doors to its annual urban beach on July 5. So if you're craving some seaside action, but don't have time to nip to the coast, head down until August 31 to lounge around in one of the deck chairs while sipping a mojito from the tiki hut and cooling your toes in the paddling pool. JW3's restaurant Zest will also be barbecuing a special summer menu to keep you well fed while enjoying the season's activities. For kids there are a whole host of workshops, including sand-challah making, singalongs and beach boogies. Meanwhile the big kids can get down at the beach party on July 16, catch the Wimbledon final on July 12, get stuffed at the Jewish Vegetarian Society's Tu B'Av festival of love and joy, and see live music on the sandy stage. Now, if we could only remember where we left our bucket and spade…

If you're looking for more things to do this summer, how about a mildly epic walk?
