Stop what you’re doing right now if you want to get your hands on tickets to the London Film Festival, which takes place next month. The LFF is the biggest film event of the year, bringing the buzziest and best dramas and documentaries to cinemas around the city. Tickets go on sale this morning at 10am.

Forget Cannes, forget Venice… what we love about the LFF is that it's a public festival, which means we all get a chance to watch the movies premiering (and walk the red carpet).

The buzziest films at the LFF this year include ‘High-Rise’ director Ben Wheatley’s first American movie ‘Free Fire’ – a Tarantino-sounding shoot ’em up starring Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy. The festival is also showing Ryan Gosling’s Oscar dead cert ‘La La Land’, a gorgeous new musical. Plus, Time Out will be presenting ‘The 13th’ a powerful and important new documentary about racial inequality in America by ‘Selma’ director Ava DuVernay.

Not sure what to watch at the festival? We’ve picked the 30 films we’re most excited about

The London Film Festival is happening on October 5-16
