Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro has played a taxi driver, a gangster and a boxer (among many other things), but now he's trying his hand at something a little different. The actor is venturing into the world of hospitality and has just unveiled plans to open a swanky boutique hotel in Covent Garden.
The Wellington will take over six existing buildings, and facilities will include a spa, two restaurants, a deli, a café and a members' club. The Manhattan-born actor already owns The Greenwich Hotel in New York, and if Westminster council approves the planning application, it's expected that work will start on his London hotel early next year, to be completed by 2019.
