Ryan Gosling shocked Londoners at the weekend with a surprise appearance at the end of a movie

Last Friday, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's dreamy new musical 'La La Land' had its big glitzy British premiere at the London Film Festival in Leicester Square – but neither of the actors turned up to walk the red carpet and wave to the crowds.

What we didn't know until now is that Gosling did actually turn up to the festival, a day later and unannounced, at a second screening of the film at the Odeon Leicester Square on Saturday morning, sending the audience into a complete spin.

That's him on the far right, with the writer-director of 'La La Land' Damien Chazelle (who previously made 'Whiplash') standing next to him (sorry for the poor image quality!).

Unsurprisingly, the room went nuts when Gosling appeared.

Not everyone was happy – here's pitying those people who turned up to the big splashy gala screening of the same film the night before only to be greeted by a big Gosling-shaped hole.

We feel especially sorry for this person.

The London Film Festival continues until Sunday. You can see 'La La Land' when it opens in cinemas on 13 January 2017, although it's unlikely that Ryan Gosling will make a surprise appearance at your local Cineworld.
