Sad news: the £1 café in Fitzrovia has closed down

In June last year, we brought you the news that lunchtime dreams are made of: a café had opened in Fitzrovia where everything was £1. Yep, sandwiches, salads, pastries, cakes, tea and coffee – all for one English pound. But sadly the café has now closed its doors, less than a year after opening. A message on the café's website says: 'We are now taking the opportunity to close the shop at 45 Newman Street, and review the business over the last year. This is not necessarily “good bye”, but “see you later”.' For the sake of our bank balances (and to stop us spending at least half our salary in Pret), let's hope they're back in action soon.
