The Oxford Street Christmas lights switch-on date has been announced

Sure, it's only October, but it's already beginning to look a lot like Christmas on Oxford Street where the annual festive lights have already gone up. The lights will remain firmly switched off for the moment, but the official switch-on date has now been confirmed for November 6 (only a mere 49 days before the big day itself, then).

The entire street will be closed between 12pm and 7pm for the official switch-on event, which will involve pop-up food stalls and festive activities for children, as well as some sort of celeb to do the honours and flick the big ol' switch.
