If you haven't been on a run for an age – or just hate running full-stop – there's a few fun-filled running events coming up this autumn that might just inspire you to dust off your old kicks. On your marks, London!

1. Run This Space running festival, October 1

The super-stylish Third Space in Canary Wharf has teamed up with urban running collective Run Dem Crew for a musical 10k-slash-city tour. There are three running paces to choose from – including the rather appealing 'party pace' – and the race will wrap up with a yoga session for the ultimate chilled-out recovery. As it's a festival too, you can look forward to top food, good tunes, fun activities and a well-deserved glass of champs. Not bad for just a tenner – and all proceeds go to Save the Children.

2. Secret London Runs presents the Prison Break Run, October 28

If Secret Cinema floats your boat, have a go Secret London Runs – a trot around town that's purely here for the fun and games. The event at the end of October will take you back to the sixteenth century as you work in teams to track down a 'prison escapee' because, why not? It's certainly one way to spend a Friday night.

3. Run in the Dark, November 16

This global series of runs is not only a brilliant way to explore top cities after hours, but it's brought tens of thousands of runners together to raise money for the Mark Pollock Trust which aims to find a cure for paralysis. Stretch those legs with a 5k walk, 5k run or 10k evening run in Battersea Park and feel pretty damn awesome in the morning.
