1. Sketch sculptures by Marc Quinn while sipping prosecco by candlelight at Sir John Soane's Museum from 6pm this evening. Tickets are £10 and for once, you’ll be able to take pics inside the beautifully kitted-out nineteenth century town house.

2. See outrageous hair sculpture and sniff your way around an olfactory and tasting tour of the Thames at this waterways festival 'RiverWeekender'. Watermans Arts Centre near Kew will be the HQ, where you'll find author Iain Sinclair reading from his book 'The Last London', a peculiar history of our river city. Prices for each event vary and the action kicks off at 1pm.

3. Italian market Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle is celebrating its first birthday with a weekend of free events championing sustainability. Head there today for film screenings, yoga classes, cookery workshops and free food. Book sessions in advance online.
