Throw some shapes at the International Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship

By Hayley Spencer

Fancy yourself a rock, paper, scissors pro? Then April 16 is your time to shine. The Green Man pub in Bank is hosting the International Rock Paper Scissors Championship to separate the chumps from the champs.

A mighty 128 competitors, all repping a different nation, will go head-to-head in seven best-of-three knockout rounds. And if you manage to emerge victorious with your ninja-style hand moves then there's a prize to be had. The winner will score £100, a medal and a bottle of champers – not too shabby for an afternoon of sign language.

Best get practicing those tactics – it's all about the double bluff, and if the pressure gets too much, just throw a sneaky Spock hand into the mix (don't – you'll be disqualified on the spot).

To enter go to and to play spectator, get yourself to The Green Man, 1 Poultry, EC2R 8EJ on April 16.

Like the sound of this? You might be into the London Games Festival.
