You can learn the ‘ins and outs’ of animal sex at ZSL Zoo Nights this summer

The sale of giraffe onesies is about to go through the roof: ZSL has just announced a new after-hours event, Zoo Nights – a reformed version of their Zoo Lates events, which came to an end in 2015.

Every Friday in June, visitors will be able to pile into the zoo from 6-10pm to hear live music and visit 20,000 animals in their Camden digs. It’s less focused on bestial boozing: there’s going to be a packed street-food market, a Zooniversity Challenge interactive quiz and a ‘murder mystery’ style crime trail around the enclosures (bet it was one of those ring-tailed lemurs, they always look guilty). And if you’re feeling flush, you can upgrade your ticket for a sleepover beside the lion enclosures at the Gir Lion Lodge.

The most salacious new addition is ‘The Birds and the Bees – Uncut’ walk, where zoo guides will talk you through the ins and outs of the animals’ sex lives via a headset. Did you know that when a male bee is ready for sex, his testicles will actually explode, bringing his buzzy little life to an end? The good news is that he will have then mated with the queen. The things we do for love, eh?

ZSL Zoo Nights will run every Friday from June 2-30 from 6-10pm. Tickets are usually £17.50 but you can get them for £15 when you book through Time Out. Nab yours here.
