Savoy Cabaret & Burlesque

The Savoy is welcoming cabaret performance back a mere 83 years after it first graced the hotel's plush surroundings. And it's back in style, too, in the black-and-gold Beaufort bar: Holly Penfield and Dusty Limits are hosting with superior burlesque from Vicky Butterfly and Laurie Hagen, the quirky Apple Tart, elegant crystal-balling from Matt Hennem and Indian-style dancer Ash Mukherjee. Their first show had a couple of issues – the tech was wobbly and the gang took things somewhat gingerly in terms of content – but there's no arguing with the alluring setting and Holly holding forth from atop a table. We're expecting a sharper edge tonight – mind those chandeliers…
