The darker-than-dark electronics of the impressive Blackest Ever Black label are on show at Corsica tonight, a fitting venue for their wide-ranging cacophony of edgy, soul-searching sounds, taking in industrial, drone, doom, ambient and anything far left of centre and a bit tortured. The haunting shoegaze lo-fi of Tropic of Cancer will be showcased, as will a set of "power electronics" from Dominick Fernow's Purient project, long-standing BEB family Raime and their industrial/ambient/minimal horror dub sounds, psychedelic electro-acoustic improv from Shampoo Boy in their live UK debut, ace and classic smoky garage from Horsepower Productions, and innovative jungle and D&B stalwart Source Direct (AKA Jim Baker). Loads to get excited – and a little bit scared – about, from some dark arts innovators.
