Towards the end of last year, a group of friends decided to try and reclaim the initials EDL from the highly controversial English Defence League and set about creating an online presence, hoping their project, based on spreading equality, would come up at the top of internet searches for 'EDL' instead. Their choice of name? English Disco Lovers. Simple and inspired, it perfectly summed up their desires for unity and respect for all, spread through the medium of disco.
The project soon became a big news story and the group found themselves in the media spotlight. This is their very first organised party (it's a charity event) and we can confidently say it's going to be a total belter. Guest DJs are being kept secret at the moment, but rest assured there'll be some awesome names behind the decks, providing a prime selection of gems covering all kinds of delicious disco goodness and beyond. What this lot are doing should be celebrated in the glorious, fun and harmonising manner in which it was intended, so get yourself down to The Shoreditch Butchery and find your peace-loving disco groove like never before.
