This Brixton restaurant, bar and live music venue helps brings the party vibe to Coldharbour Lane. Every Friday and Saturday night sees DJs on rotation, with everything from deep house and hip hop to boogie, funk, soul and ska on the playlist.

Market House invites various different food stalls and chefs to take over the kitchen - it's the turn of Bhangra Burgers at the moment. Expect masala fish and chips and tandoori chicken and chips alongside Bombay potato burgers, tandoori chicken burgers and a lamb jalfrezi burger - served with spiced apple and pear chutney, chilli pickle and raita.

The drinks list ranges from house cocktails such as the Monkey Mambo (Monkey Shoulder whiskey, Remi Martin VSOP, Cointreau, elderflower cordial, fresh fig and lemon) to jugs of Pimms and a wine list with 17 available by the glass.

Love the pop-up kitchens in the Market House - even the now permanent Nanban from across the road once based themselves here. Reasonably priced drinks and happy hour cocktails until 8pm make this bar a great pre-night out spot, or even if you never leave, music and dancing goes on to the early hours.

I am always on the hunt for a tasty cocktail…without the price tag. I went to Market House with a friend for cocktails, lured by the prospect of £5 drinks. The Happy Hour is till 8pm, which was nice as usually these finish way earlier than is convenient. We ordered a selection, and from the four I sampled I enjoyed three- the last one being too bitter. However, thanks to the super friendly and attentive bar staff they remixed my drink to make something I preferred. The venue is buzzy and was busy on the Saturday night I went. Not one for a quiet drink, but if you're after cheap and cheerful then this is a good option.

Right next to Brixton Village, Market House is a decent bar/pub with an upstairs dance/DJ area. They do a pretty good happy hour and the drinks are well priced, even without the discount.

Probably the biggest highlight of this venue for me though is the constantly changing kitchen, which is currently Mac N Cheese. Didn't personally eat but several friends did who were happy with their choices!
