Meet the residents: The 2 Bears

The 2 Bears – the furry partnership of Raf Rundell and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard – are the next residents in Shoreditch club XOYO’s residency series. They give us the scoop on their upcoming guests and how to avoid committing DJ suicide.

Your run is bookended by two all-night sets. What’s all the fuss about playing all night?
Joe: ‘An all-nighter brings out a DJ’s innate sense of arrogance and also sheds light on corners of his/her record collection that perhaps should have remained forever shrouded in darkness.’

You’ve got some impressive guests joining you. Who should our readers look out for?
Raf: ‘I’d recommend coming to see Matias Aguayo (May 31). He’s an incredible DJ who doesn’t play often in London. The Sunday Best and Girls Music parties will be great too.’

Eats Everything was trying out loads of different stuff in his sets. Are you planning on mucking around too?
Joe: ‘Definitely. If I have to hear another prolonged period of 4/4 kick drums, I may well lobotomise myself in the DJ booth with the shards of a smashed Jägermeister bottle. Therefore we will be playing everything we own – from Arvo Pärt to the Brooklyn Zoo.’
