Angel Comedy at the Camden Head
Venue says Always Free! Always Funny! 7 nights a week of great comedy.

A great pub in Angel that has a charming beer garden out front and an events space upstairs, where Angel Comedy calls home (as well as The Bill Murray down the road). There are excellent comedy line-ups here every night and they're always free.

Angel Comedy at the Camden Head says
Angel Comedy is a London comedy club. We’ve been going since 2010, and have grown from a once a week gig into a seven nights a week “Comedy Institution” (according to Timeout).

We started out at the Camden Head in Islington, where we’re still going strong, seven nights a week. It’s one of the best loved comedy gigs in London, and consistently rated a top-ten London night out on Tripadvisor. And it’s famously FREE. Every night, always. FREE.

Well, we’re about giving comedians and audiences a fair deal, exploring how comedy can benefit our local community, and generally immersing ourselves in funny.

In our heads, that means free comedy gigs, that are well run and high quality. It also means providing a stage for the weird, the wonderful, the well established, the, er, can’t think of any other W’s, but you get the picture. We’re comedians who love comedy. We want to support other comedians on their journey.

As a broke Londoner I'm so grateful for places like this!

Yes, these nights are free, but that doesn't mean that the quality of the show is not good. I had great fun whenever I visited.

It's good to arrive early to secure your place (the room gets full really quickly although people sit even on the fireplace frame) , but you can have a (few) nice pint(s) while you wait. The pub has a friendly vibe and good selection of drinks.

As a pub the Camden Head is pretty standard, it's got everything you would expect from a traditional pub - good range of drinks, friendly atmosphere and a decent beer garden which is quite handy in the summer. What sets the Camden Head apart is the free comedy night it hosts every evening. We've been on a few occasions and have had really good nights here. The MC on our most recent visit was hilarious and you only pay what you deem reasonable on the way out. Be prepared to queue early if you want a seat as it's been standing room only every time I've visited.

Angel Comedy is always a great time. It's best to go early and grab a pint as it does get extremely busy, it's also best to line up early if you want a chair. I have been multiple times and have always had a great time. They get a great great mix of people for a free show and the MC is usually really funny.

Top 5 reasons to attend the Angel Comedy Club.

1. It's free. Well, it's free to come in ... because it's 8,982 pounds to get out! In any case, that's one of the joke you could hear from the MC at the end of the show. You can actually contribute as much as you wish.

2. Not one day looks like the other. Each show has many surprises, sometimes famous comedians come on stage. Keep an eye on the website to be informed.

3. It is the number of pints that you might drink during the two hours of the show. This is at least an assumption based on my statistics. In any case, the show takes place in a pub, so no risk to get dehydrated.

4. It's in Angel. This means that once the show is over, you can enjoy Upper Street and its fabulous restaurants.

5. It is open 7 days a week. But I advise you to go on Sunday because that day is depressing. Also, on Sunday you can see beginner comedians coming on stage and those more established trying new material. Come on, you will make good guinea pigs.

Briliant bar, brilliant staff, brilliant atmosphere, brilliant comedy upstairs too every night! - I'll go again soon!

I went last night with a friend. It was an awesome show with what seemed like a nice mix of amateur and more practiced acts. The bar wasn't too expensive, a very pretty pub, just a little too small, though the cosiness added to the atmosphere tbh.

You get exactly what it says on the tin, a cosy intimate atmosphere and hilarious acts. The beer is reasonable and the pub is lovely. Cant wait to go again!

I am coming over to london for 7 weeks and I would like to know if there is any possibility for me to play some gigs.
