Stand-up in Forest Gate from Comedy Store regular Roger Monkhouse, the dark and deranged Bobby Mair, Sarah Iles and MC Andrew Roper.
A cracking comedy night at Gigglegate, in the heart of Forest Gate. Crazily there were several empty seats at this intimate venue, meaning punters missed out on the razor sharp, but slightly unsettling ramblings of the very funny Bobby Mair, and the excellent musings of the urbane but 'slightly shop-soiled' Roger Monkhouse. MC Andrew Roper did a sterling job to marshal the small but enthusiastic audience and maintain the comedy momentum through the evening. Two promising support acts - Sarah Isles and a chap in a rather unflattering lycra t shirt - more than held their own in the middle section of the show. Decent ale and top comedy - a winning combination, for £7 - what's not to like?. It just needed a few more people to give the place a bit more atmosphere. Last Thursdays of the month at the Forest Tavern, opposite Forest Gate station. Come and discover a comedy gem. In the words of Arnie "I used to live in Forest Gate" (honestly!) Schwarzenegger:.... I'll be back.
