Josie Long has spent three years shrugging off her reputation as the queen of quirk with a trilogy of passionate, angry but ultimately optimistic political shows. It’s done her good, too – two of them received Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nominations.
Well, she’s changed tack again. ‘Cara Josephine’ is a heartfelt, introspective piece of stand-up about break-ups, family and romantic ideals. It’s her most personal show yet, and it’s another feelgood triumph. And don’t worry, Nick Clegg still gets a kicking. The show was officially the best reviewed comedy offering at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and now Long’s bringing ‘Cara Josephine’ back to London with extra shows at the Southbank Centre.
