A very unique comedy night, created by the inspiring and energetic presenter and comedian Romina Puma as an open comedy laboratory for new comedy, as well as a meeting point of comedy cultures and traditions from English and international guests with the Italian ones.
This laboratory has been ideated as an open space for experimenting new material; I went to see it a few times and I've found an exciting sense of novelty and discovery, and I had the opportunity to see acts testing brand new material months before going touring theatres or bringing it to international festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival. It is always great, in any art, to feel as witnessing what's "going to be next". That sense of avantgarde.
I've been doing theatre myself for many years, and when in the heart of London I saw these international acts on stage from any diverse cultural backgrounds sharing tips and jokes, bringing their culture while absorbing and being influenced by the others, reminded me of the old age when travelling 'Commedia Dell'Arte' companies spread a global sense of theatre of life, with common human experiences and habits being part of that theatre, giving a smile while reflecting on our common nature.
What happened with years of travelling ages ago can happen now in the heart of today's contemporary global London, where an Italian comedian and her fellow Italian comedy acts bring to Italians those familiar laughs, as well as promoting share and exchange with guest UK and international comedians, leaving them a bit more Italian, and the Italians a bit more international every night.
Performed in both Italian and in English, it's highly recommended for those in search of new comedy, for lovers of Italian language and culture, for international theatre lovers. And of course for stand up comedy lovers.
