Akram Khan Company: Desh

A welcome return for Akram Khan's much-lauded solo 'Desh', possibly his best work yet. Inspired by Khan's parents' homeland of Bangladesh, 'Desh' is another exploration of Khan's favourite subject, identity, but it proves that the choreographer is far from stuck in a rut. A top quality production in every aspect, with enchanting sets by Tim Yip (production designer on 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon') and music by Jocelyn Pook ('Eyes Wide Shut'), Khan's physical presence is as compelling as ever, and his treatment of the subject matter shows a new confidence and subtlety. If the only time you've seen Khan was when he danced at the Olympic Opening Ceremony, it's time to check him out in the flesh.
