The Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet performs Roland Petit's version of 'Coppélia', the classic nineteenth-century ballet about a young man who falls in love with a life-sized doll, making his real-life fiancé wildly jealous. It's a silly story but the draw here is an appearance from the elusive Ukrainian dancer Sergei Polunin. The very talented Polunin has a history of vanishing acts, first unexpectedly walking out of a plum job at the Royal Ballet, then going missing earlier this year when he was due to perform in London with the Peter Schaufuss Ballet. He promises he will be there this time.
