One of the theatrical highlights of last year, Hofesh Shechter's 'Political Mother' returns to Sadler's Wells in a revamped version, subtitled, 'The Choreographer's Cut'. Shechter's approach to theatre isn't subtle; he's all about the full-on experience, with live (loud) music from a 20-strong band, powerful lighting and the energy of a rock concert. In fact, for this show Sadler's Wells is taking out the seats in the stalls to make room for a standing audience, gig-stylee. 'Political Mother' is a brilliantly intense show full of clever twists and turns, and underneath all the trimmings, Shechter's earthy, muscular movement.
