Butoh performer Marie-Gabrielle Rotie presents 'Mythic', a piece inspired by nineteenth-century spiritualist photographs and butoh founder Tatsumi Hijikata's assertion that to dance 'is to shake hands with the dead'. Images of birth, life and death are conjured up through film, sound, lighting and Rotie's physical transformation.
