Peter Schaufuss restages Frederick Ashton's 'Romeo and Juliet' with two of the most exciting dancers in the world today, Ivan Vasiliev and Natalia Osipova from the Bolshoi Ballet. Ashton's 1955 take on the star-cross'd lovers is not the usual version seen here (the Royal Ballet do Kenneth MacMillan's version), but Ashton left the ballet to Schufuss in his will when he died and the somewhat maverick Schaufuss is refashioning it for the twenty-first century. The steps almost won't matter though when Vasiliev gets on stage – he's a jaw-dropping performer and a real force of nature.
