There's love, heartbreak and sumptuous poetry in this Chinese romance, choreographed by Patrick de Bana, and co-produced between Shanghai Ballet and the Shanghai Grand Theatre. It's inspired by the cheery-sounding Chinese poem 'The Song of Everlasting Regret', which depicts the plighted romance between Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine Yang Guifei. This ancient Tang Dynasty story is brought up to date with a global soundtrack of music by artists including Armand Amar and Philip Glass.
