The Monteverdi Choir and Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique under Sir John Eliot Gardiner perform Weber's 'Der Freischütz' (French version, 1841, with recitatives by Berlioz; concert performance). With tenor Andrew Kennedy (Max), soprano Sophie Karthäuser (Agathe), bass Gidon Saks (Kaspar), soprano Virginie Pochon (Ännchen) and bass-baritone Matthew Brook (Kuno). (Note: at 5.45pm there is a Proms Plus event at the Royal College of Music. Conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner discusses tonight's performance of Der Freischütz - a cornerstone of German Romantic opera reimagined by Berlioz for French audiences - in conversation with Tom Service.)
