This is Extraordinary place to visit to see; as they say seeing believing; This exhibition on board an authentic replica of a Phoenician ship from 600BC, currently moored inside St Katharine Dock next to the Starbucks rotunda, at the back of the Tower Bridge hotel, is an opportunity to learn more about the mysterious Phoenicians. On display are historic artefacts, including gold and silver Phoenician coins, alongside interactive exhibits and media clips telling the story of how the ship was built, why the Phoenicians were the greatest ancient sailors and the challenges of sailing a vessel designed in 600BC. There's a quiz for kids to take part in as they tour the boat.
Really recommend this. Fascinating boat and story of the trip. We were very lucky and happened to be on our own when we went round and got an amazing private tour from the captain. Great outing for families with children. We had a nice lunch at turkish cafe nearby too, so you can make an afternoon of it.
Having been involved in educational publisihing for 25 years, I think it's fantastic for children to learn about the Phoenicians, especially as it is not included on the national curriculum! Great exhibition, well worth a visit.
Fantastic onboard exhibition, really informative and fascinating ancient artefacts. The kids would love it - just like a pirate ship!!
This is an important exhibition. Captain Beale and his crew talk about the ancient Phoenicians and how they were the World's first great trading nation. There are ancient Carthaginian coins and much to be learned- ideal for children.
