This after-hours opening has proved hugely successful at London's major museums and galleries, with first-timers often amazed at the party atmosphere – and some of the institutions occasionally overwhelmed by the popularity of the evenings. In 2013, the Museums at Night weekend runs from Thursday to Saturday (rather than Friday to Sunday, as it has in the past). Confirmed events suggest a wonderfully varied weekend of activities: ten of the UK's leading contemporary artists, among them Jake and Dinos Chapman, and Gavin Turk will be putting on unique events; Kensington Palace and Hampton Court will be hosting sleep-overs; rAndom International (responsible for the Barbican's hugely successful Rain Room last year) will hold a live event at the Horniman Museum; and Martin Creed will talk at the Freud Museum. For details of events, check out our feature and see www.culture24.org.uk/museumsatnight.
