WHAT’S THE PRIZE?
Four (4) winners (“Winners”) will be selected by Time Out to perform two (2) original songs live at a music event hosted by Time Out at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery [1 Mercer Walk, London WC2H 9FA (the “Venue”) on 27 May 2026 (the “Event”). This prize is referred to as the “Prize” in these Rules.
👉 There are a few additional conditions which apply to the Prize:
- The Winners’ acknowledge and agree to:
- Be available to attend and perform two (2) original songs live at the Event;
- Perform two (2) original songs, details of which must be submitted to the Organiser no later than 13th May 2026, at the Event. The songs are subject to prior written approval by the Organiser, such approval not to be unreasonably withheld. The Organiser may only decline to approve a song on reasonable grounds, including where the song contains content that is defamatory, offensive, unlawful, or infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party.
- Comply with all technical and production requirements set by the Organiser and the Venue at the Event;
- Enter into any agreement with the Organiser as may be reasonably required prior to the Event;
- Grant and license all necessary rights for the Organiser to film, record, and use their performance, name, image and voice in any media worldwide in perpetuity for promotional use in connection with this Event and Competition and without any payment;
- Participate in publicity as may be reasonably required by the Organiser;
- Winners are responsible for all their costs of travel to and from the Event and any accommodation. The Organiser will not contribute to such costs unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Organiser.
- Be automatically entered into an audience vote at the Event (the “Audience Vote”), in which audience members present at the Event will vote for their favourite performer from the four (4) Winners. The performer who receives the highest number of valid audience votes will receive an additional prize as described in the Audience Vote Rules. The Audience Vote Rules will be made available at [www.timeout.com] and displayed at the Event prior to the vote taking place.
WHEN CAN I ENTER THE COMPETITION?
Start Date: [5pm on 5th May 2026]
End Date: [23:59pm on 13th May 2026]
Entries received after the End Date will not be considered.
HOW DO I ENTER?
To enter the Competition, you must:
- Describe your act in a couple of lines (who are you, what kind of music do you play, where are you from etc)
- Link to a track or recording of your own original song that the Organiser can access (SoundCloud, Spotify, Bandcamp etc – one strong example of your music)
- Tell us about your live performance experience (Include any links to live videos if you have them)
- Be available to perform at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery between 7pm and 11pm on 27 May 2026.
- Input your email address to the entry form
That’s it, make sure to complete the form before the End Date of the Competition.

WHO CAN ENTER?
The Competition is open to all UK residents over the age of 18, except employees of the Organiser and the Prize Provider, their agents, contractors and their family members. All entrants and the Winners must be aged 18 or over. You will not be eligible for the Prize if you are under 18. You can only enter once and multiple entries will not be accepted.
This Competition is open to both solo artists and groups or bands.
Where a group or band enters as a single act, all members must individually satisfy the eligibility criteria set out above. Where a band or group is selected, the band or group as a whole shall constitute one (1) Winner and shall occupy one (1) of the four (4) performance slots at the Event, and all members of that band or group shall be individually and jointly bound by the Prize conditions set out in these Rules. One member must be nominated as the lead contact for all correspondence relating to the Competition. Please note, there is no drum kit provided, so acts must make their performance work without this.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Entries will be judged by a panel of judges and scored in accordance with the following criteria.
The judging panel consists of Alex Lanyon [independent musician] and Chloe Lawrance [Time Out’s Head of Commercial Content. The judging panel will collectively score each entry against the criteria below, using the scoring bands set out in the table. The scores will be totalled to produce a combined aggregate score for each entry. The four (4) entries with the highest aggregate scores will be selected as the Winners.

OTHER RULES
- The Organiser reserves the right to exclude any entry from the Competition at any time if it has a reason to believe that the entrant has breached any of the Rules.
- If an entrant is experiencing any problems with the form please email competitions@timeout.com.
- Any entries submitted after the End Date or that do not comply with the entry requirements, will be disqualified.
- Any material submitted to the Organiser must be submitted by the original creator of the entry and must not be defamatory, obscene, unlawful, offensive, infringe the rights of any third party, or include the image or any information about somebody else.
- The Winners will be notified by the Organiser via email. The Winners may be asked to provide identification. Any Winner who is not contactable or who fails to return contact within 72 hours of being notified will be disqualified, in which case the Winner forfeits their right to the Prize, no compensation will be given and another winner will be selected by the panel of judges.
- The Prize is non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable.
- In the event of unforeseen circumstances the Organiser and the Prize Provider reserve the right to substitute the Prize for an alternative of equal or greater value.
- The Organiser accepts no responsibility if the Prize Provider refuses to issue the Prize or if the Event does not take place due to any reason.
- The names of the Winners may be obtained by sending a written request with a stamped addressed envelope stating which competition you would like the Winner’s details for, to Time Out England Limited, 1st Floor, 172 Drury Lane, London WC2B 5QR or by email to competitions@timeout.com. The request must be submitted within 1 calendar month after the Competition End Date. Any Winners’ details shared by the Organiser or the Prize Provider will be limited to surname and country only, in accordance with ASA guidelines and UK General Data Protection Regulations.
- By entering the Competition, entrants will provide the necessary personal information to the Organiser, and all entrants consent to the Organiser processing their personal data for the purposes of administering this Competition. All personal information will be handled in accordance with the GDPR and Time Out’s privacy notice: www.timeout.com/privacy-notice.
- The judges’ decision is final and binding on the entrants. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Copyright in all entries submitted for this Competition remains with the respective entrants. However, entrants agree that by submitting an entry to the Competition, they grant the Organiser a royalty free, perpetual irrevocable worldwide licence to use and republish their entry. This includes sharing the entry through social media and publication by the Organiser worldwide in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material.
- The Organiser accepts no liability for any loss or damage however caused, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss or damage or personal injury (with the exception of death or personal injury caused by the Organiser's own negligence) suffered or sustained in connection with the Prize Package.
- If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Organiser and/or the Prize Provider and which prevents the Organiser and/or the Prize Provider from complying with these Rules, neither the Organiser or the Prize Provider will be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing their obligations. The Organiser reserves the right to modify, delay, postpone or cancel the Competition in the event of circumstances outside of its reasonable control.
- This Competition and these Rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
- This Competition is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, nor affiliated with, any third-party platform used to host submitted recordings, including but not limited to SoundCloud, Spotify, and Bandcamp. Any information provided by entrants in connection with this Competition is provided to the Organiser only and not to any such third-party platform.
The Competition promoter is the Organiser. The Organiser has the right to license any rights granted to its associated companies and licensees.
AUDIENCE VOTE RULES ("Rules")
These Rules set out the legal terms governing the audience vote taking place at the Event (as defined below). We recommend that you read them carefully.

WHAT'S THE PRIZE?
The Prizes will be provided by Time Out, Lionsgate and Universal Music (the “Prize Providers”).
One (1) performer (the "Winner") will be selected by audience vote after the Event to receive [a four-hour professional recording session with an experienced producer and studio engineer (to be provided by Universal), a covetable Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s Iced Tea guitar (to be provided by Time Out), a vinyl and merch bundle including a Power Ballad vinyl (to be provided by Universal) and Power Ballad tee shirt and guitar picks (to be provided by Universal) (the "Prize").
WHERE AND WHEN DOES THE AUDIENCE VOTE TAKE PLACE?
The audience vote will take place after the Time Out music event (the "Event"). Voting will open at 11pm on 27 May 2026 and close at 11pm on 28 May 2026. Votes cast outside this window will not be counted.
HOW DOES THE AUDIENCE VOTE WORK?
Audience members may cast one (1) vote for their favourite performer from the four (4) performers appearing at the Event.
Voting is free of charge. No purchase or payment of any kind is required to participate.
Votes must be cast via Instagram Story poll on Time Out London’s Instagram page (@timeoutlondon).
Each audience member may cast only one (1) vote. Multiple votes from the same individual will be disqualified.
The performer who receives the highest number of valid votes will be selected as the Winner.
In the event of a tie, the Organiser will cast the deciding vote.
WHO CAN VOTE?
The audience vote is open to all individuals who are aged 18 or over. The following persons are not eligible to vote:
- Employees of the Organiser, the Venue, the Prize Provider, their agents, contractors, and their immediate family members;
- The four (4) performers appearing at the Event; and
- Any person acting on behalf of, at the request of, or in coordination with any of the four (4) performers.
OTHER RULES
- The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any vote it has reason to believe has been cast in breach of these Rules or is otherwise fraudulent or invalid.
- Any votes cast after the close of voting or that do not comply with the voting requirements will be disqualified.
- The Winner will be announced by the Organiser. The Organiser's decision on the final result is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
- The Prize is non-negotiable, non-transferable, and non-refundable.
- In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Organiser and the Prize Provider reserve the right to substitute the Prize for an alternative of equal or greater value.
- The Organiser accepts no responsibility if the Prize Provider refuses to issue the Prize or if the Event does not take place due to any reason outside the Organiser's control.
- If the Event does not take place due to circumstances outside the Organiser's reasonable control, the audience vote will be cancelled and no Prize will be awarded.
- The names of the Winner may be obtained by sending a written request with a stamped addressed envelope to Time Out England Limited, 1st Floor, 172 Drury Lane, London WC2B 5QR or by email to competitions@timeout.com. The request must be submitted within one (1) calendar month after the date of the Event. Any Winner's details shared will be limited to surname and county only, in accordance with ASA guidelines.
- By participating in the audience vote, voters consent to the Organiser processing any personal data collected for the purposes of administering the vote. All personal information will be handled in accordance with the GDPR and Time Out’s privacy notice: www.timeout.com/privacy-notice.
