Time Out says

Channel your inner Tolstoy with a good ol’ parenie, an old school Russian massage, which involves being swathed in hot wet leaves and pummelled by venik – a leafy bundle of herbs. It’s meant to reduce muscle tension and stress and it’s the speciality treatment at Banya No.1 – the only traditional Russian baths in London.

Unlike conventional saunas, the banya surrounds you with high levels of steam as water is splashed onto cast iron heated to 700ºC inside a brick furnace. Amid the pummellings you can also expect plenty of vodka shots and tasty Russian delicacies as part of the Slavonic experience.

This experience is my ultimate favorite! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

In fact I'm going to visit Banya again and again. Spa facilities are great and clean and massage was amazing.

I love this place and go there once a month with my girl friends. Perfect spa day out! You get a table and can order herbal teas and nibbles, and get all the wonderful treatments.

My favourite ones are a tree twig massage in the heat of the steam room (very-very cleansing experience), honey and salt scrub (also very cleansing) and a regular massage. What I like is that every member of personnel was hand-picked, all therapists are really the best - they can be really proud about it. Seriously, the massages are performed by people with years of experience and upgraded qualifications in Japan,  Thailand, etc. (yes, I always talk to masseurs finding out their background - inexperienced one can do a lot of damage, whereas a good one can help immensely).
Apart from all the spa benefits, I go there to give a proper break for my brain and thoughts and have an experience of travelling to another country (Russia) for a short space of time, without having to live London. I think it's cool!

Went here with a large group after the encouragement of one of russian friends- who came along with us. I would say this is a very russian experience of a spa- no "relaxing" music or bullsh*t here. When you go you are allowed a 3 hour access to the spa and restaurant. You get told what to do an how- I took a siberian package- which apparently was a very brave choice as it included a 4 hand parenie- if you didn't know they shake a bundle of leaves on top of the steam room to trap the heat and shake them on top of you so the heat is released on your body- they also whack you with the leaves. The heat is something different- luckily I like my showers the temperature of mount doom so I could handle this more than the men who preformed this thought I could. After this you get showered in freezing water and told to jump into the cold water bath- with 3 large russian men yelling at you- you oblige. With my package I got a scrub that will remove any slither of dead skin on your body- seriously nothing will be left!

The main thing is sitting in the steam room- you can only handle 10min really so in between you sit in the restaurant to eat russian food and drink. I would recomed to bring a t-shirt with you to sit in the restaurant as it can be cooler there. We tried Kvas (russian coca cola!- It is actually a kombusha like drink), the russian platters and the crayfish- in our group we also had a bottle of vodka to share and beer. We were a group of 8 and it would have only been marginally more expensive to go to the private spa- which we will do next time!

What a find! I chose the Gold package, which had a massage thrown in, in addition to a honey scrub, mud mask and of course, the traditional parenie. Staff are lovely and more than happy to give you their tips to make your visit more worthwhile. Being a parenie newbie, the initial heat was quite shocking but followed up with a cold plunge in the ice pool, I left feeling as though I'd been on holiday! The lounge area feels private and cosy with an extensive tempting menu. I'm already booking my next visit.

It was the best Spa experience I've ever had. Definitely would come back. Parenie is the key! Something absolutely different.
