John Bell & Croyden

Time Out says

After two centuries of dishing out cures to Londoners’ maladies, age started to wither this venerable pharmacy: cue a multimillion-pound revamp that balances an imposing heritage with a new range of products. Intriguing bits of antique paraphernalia are dotted among of-the-moment wellness fads – JB&C houses a royal prescription book, so you can gawp at Queen Victoria’s beauty secrets (cold cream and Coraline toothpaste, FYI). The store is also home to a globetrotting selection of fancy brands, from French cult favourites including Embryolisse and La Roche Posay to under-the-radar Antipodean suncare. You might come in looking for blister plasters, but you’ll leave with a bathroom-cabinet’s worth of loot.

I had a facial at John Bell & Croyden a few weeks ago at their InResidence. At my arrival I was amazed by the store as it was my first visit: a beautiful place where you can find the most coveted brands of skincare and not only. I was then greeted by a lovely woman, Maria di Chio. Maria took some time to ask me questions about my skin and what I wanted to achieve from my treatment. she clearly has plenty of knowledge! she made some suggestions and we agreed on going with Natura Bisee (they have different treatments with Pai, Dermatologica, Skinceuticals, Natura Bisee and Oskia). Let me tell you: it was an hour of pure bliss with hands and neck massage included. I left with glowly skin like I haven't seen in years! I didn't know my skin could look this good. and honestly I can only thank Maria for all the advice she gave me on how to keep my skin healthy. Will definitely be back!

Tastemaker

I have loved this shop for years--the staff seem to know more about vitamins and natural remedies than staff at any other health food store or chemists in London. So I was a bit worried when half the store closed in 2015 for remodelling. Clearly the owners knew that moving the cosmetics hall from the side of the store to the front corner would draw in shoppers other than health freaks (like me). It is a gleaming and very pretty cosmetics hall but the real items of value here are incredible ranges of health merchandise, from homeopathic remedies to pill boxes to neck braces and canes to alternative toothpaste. The chemist will fill prescriptions and various other visiting or resident specialists will give all sorts of medical advice. If you have an ache or pain and need advice, this is the place to come. I still walk out happy at every visit despite the flashy cosmetics hall remodelling.

What a lovely store with this great atmosphere. Very good service and a lot of interesting products. I was also really impressed by this wide range of new cosmetic brands they offer. One of the best pharmacies/healthcare stores I have ever been to.
