Taylor Taylor London

When East London’s favourite salon opened a branch in Notting Hill they assumed it would take a while to busy up. Not a bit. Within days, Saturdays were booked solid for weeks. It turns out that a goodish chunk of Taylor Taylor’s devoted clientele are Westies who’ve been making the pilgrimage across town for years. Which doesn’t surprise us. There is a reason why women rave about Taylor Taylor. With clever cutting and colouring expertise par excellence they send every customer out of the salon feeling confident and cool. Perfect if you need a boost.

Taylor Taylor have taken an if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it approach to the interior, which has the same Marie Antoinette’s boudoir feel to the East London salon, with mismatched vintage finds, birdcage chandeliers and a gorgeous all-gold wash room. The vibe is cool ’n’ chic but uber-relaxed (their stylists are unfailingly lovely and super-profession whenever we’ve been, East or West).  And there’s definitely a definitely spoil-me attitude, with complimentary cocktails.

We’re hooked on Taylor and Taylor’s Brazilian blowdries. Everywhere is doing Brazilians these days but the results can vary massively. T&T have have been doing keratin for years and they’re the best we’ve tested. They're not the cheapest, but unlike other brands, their products don’t have a toxic feel, leaving your hair healthier. Even better, you can get your hair wet as soon as you leave the salon (say goodbye to that three-day, can’t-leave-the-house-because-your-hair-is-greasy wait). The whole process takes 90 minutes, giving the frizzily-affected smooth, glossy, rain-proof hair for up to 12 weeks.

I have had a very bad experience with Taylor Taylor at two different branches of theirs, I have never felt this upset and disappointed. I have been messed around twice, I found the staff very unprofessional, they do not care about their clients needs at all and the service is poor.

I would definitely not recommend Taylor Taylor to anyone I know. The whole reason I had chosen them in the first place was that I wanted a professional hair dye and good service, but I was wrong in fact it was my worst experience ever as a client.

Cutting your hair is such a mundane, dull and unexciting thing to do on a Saturday afternoon – at least for me.

That is before I discovered Taylor Taylor. As soon as I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed and offered a great drink (not just the usual tea or coffee – no, no, a proper mocktail!). My hairdresser was so friendly and understood what I wanted at once. The cut was done so well that even now, months after my appointment, it still looks pretty good and not grown-out at all.

Couldn’t have loved my time at the salon more.

TOTALLY understand why you give it the Critics choice. I was pretty critical when I arrived but within minutes I was sat at the bar with a cocktail , an IPad and my stylist talking about the looks I wanted....not quite what you expect from a hairdresser but it beats sitting in a nasty black leather chair being forced to read Heat from 6 months ago. I LOVE my new look and can't wait to go back in the New Year for a new colour too. Thoroughly recommend this place and then head up the road for drinks at 65 and King with smoking new hair
