This is a deliberately kitsch new-build hotel on a redeveloped square. Loft suites are named after the heroines of psychedelic rock classics (Lucy, Lily, Jude, Ruby and Eleanor); some have private terraces or a hammock, or Japanese baths. Rooms have classic discs on the walls, and you can kick your heels from the suspended Bubble Chair at reception.
But, although occupants of the Lucy suite get a multi-person jacuzzi (with a great terrace view), the real draw isn’t the gimmicks – it’s well-designed rooms, with free Wi-Fi, for competitive prices. The restaurant-bar has been through a few hit-and-miss incarnations, but the bar’s lounge area remains a good spot to relax in and the staff are helpful.
