Millennium Hotel London Mayfair

This four-star hotel is right in the middle of Mayfair, close to the American Embassy. Get the right room and you'll be treated to some cracking views out over Grosvenor Square. Stays here range from a nice-looking standard room to the very grand luxury suites.

The hotel's three-AA rosette restaurant, Avista, offers Italian food with a fine-dining slant, in a room they describe as 'rustic' but which looks to us like it still follows the hotel's chic, townhouse vibe. You can tuck into afternoon tea here, too. The Pine Bar serves cocktails and British dishes, with live music most evenings.

Sunday afternoon sitting in the Avista Room of the Millennium Hotel having a champagne afternoon tea has to be up there with a list of my decadent experiences. The staff are charming whether trainees or not. Choosing your tea is the first decision. Choosing which sandwich to eat first comes next. The roasted Mediterranean vegetable sandwiches are particularly good. I might have enjoyed some more interesting types of bread rather than very traditional white and brown. The scones were fresh out of the oven and melt-in-your-mouth tasty. A choice of strawberry compote or lemon curd accompanied. The delicate cakes and vanilla posset where all too good to leave, so having eaten everything there was to eat, I then had to sit a while to digest. Despite having eaten more than was polite, when offered more cakes we actually accepted. The waiter might have been curious had we declined his kind offer. And, of course, we continued to sip champagne! From now on Sunday afternoons can only be a mild disappointment!

I came to this hotel for the start of my afternoon tea sessions for 2016 and this was definitely a strong start! My friend managed to get a groupon offer and I was impressed at the speed of the hotel getting back to us about whether gluten free could be an option. First tick. We also were able to reserve the date and time we wanted before buying the offer. Second tick. When we arrived it was amazing with the service being second to none. Nothing was too much of an issue and the gluten free bread was tasty and not dry like the stuff you get in supermarkets. We stayed way longer than the 2hours they mention you have the table for and they didnt seem to mind. My only issue was we asked if we could take away some of the cakes and they said this was against their health and safety rules but we saw them give a box to another table. We did ask and the waitress told us the reason but I couldnt understand her accent! It didnt spoil the afternoon tea at all though. Really amazing x

Just what you would expect at a top luxury hotel. My steel drum band ensemble covered a large Indian wedding reception at the hotel and it was a fantastic experience. One of the things that I appreciate as a supplier is assistance from the hotel without any condescending attitude because you are not a guest. This is where the Millenium scores lots of points as the staff are thoroughly professional and great to work with.

An excellent hotel. We arrived late and we got a free upgrade to a suit. The room was very spacious. The bath room was excellent with bath lotions and fluffy towers. The breakfast was delicious. We have enjoyed our stay in this hotel. I would recommend it.
