Chelsea Academy is a mixed Church of England Academy for students aged between 11 and 18 years. Architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios made use of a tight urban site close to Lots Road power station to create a building that, while built up to the boundary on almost every elevation, uses every part of the roof space for play and recreation. There is a semi-enclosed, multi-use games area above the sports hall, a training-size games area on the roof above the activity hall and other play terraces extending between the main school departments across the site. As part of Open House London 2011, Chelsea Academy is open for tours on a first-come, first-served basis on September 17 10.30am-3.30pm.
