Berlioz’s orchestral drama concerning the adventures of an unnamed artist is performed by BBCSO under François-Xavier Roth. The programme opens with Boulez’s tone-poem ‘Livre pour cordes’ – an amplified, enriched transformation of a string quartet (which the orchestra premiered in 1989), and pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is soloist for Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand.
