CANARY WHARF JAZZ FESTIVAL: Soweto Kinch + Roller Trio

Award-winning post bop altoist Kinch seamlessly meshes his engaging, funky instrumentals with evocative, concious raps that are all part of his killer live show, featuring tracks from his Dante-influenced latest album, 'The Legend of Mike Smith'. Triggering samples on FX pedals while soloing in a warm Joe Harriot vein and rapping with a rare eloquence, Kinch remains a compelling and dynamic live force. Roller Trio play an hour-long set at 7pm from their hooky and virtuosic self-titled debut album, which was nominated for last year's Mercury Prize.
