Tales of suffering and survival from the overlooked pages of history form the backbone of Atlanta-based country-folk songwriter Herring's songs, whether she's singing in honeyed yet strident tones about child murderer Susan Smith or Albany Movement activist Marion King. 2012's 'Camilla' made several end of year lists, and there's cooly atmospheric support from Honest Jon's signining White.
