One of Dizzy Gillespie's astute discoveries, Perez is a remarkable Panamanian pianist who takes enormous delight in trashing the boundaries between salsa, hard bop, Indian music, flamenco and modal jazz. For the last 10 years he's also been an integral part of sax icon Wayne Shorter's astonishing live quartet, but here he shows why he's also a uniquely gifted solo artist in his own right in a trio with bassist Ben Street and drummer Adam Cruz.
