The eloquent, sweet-voiced McAlmont – possessed of a soaring falsetto best shown in his work as half of the wonderful Thieves – has recorded with old mucker Bernard Butler, and made an acoustic album of jazz standards, showtunes and the odd pop song, as well as tried his hand at more conventional alt.rock tuneage. Who knows what he'll run with here? Support from TC's engagingly dramatic and dark, artfully gothic, Weimar cabaret-toned rock 'n' roll, which employs clarinet, piano and trombone.
