Elgar and Lloyd: Two Enigmas

Advertising

Time Out says

Philharmonia Britannica under Peter Fender presents the English premiere of the Cello Concerto by the neglected British composer George Lloyd, performed by soloist Bartholemew LaFollette. Preceded by John Adams's ebullient 'The Chairman Dances (Foxtrot for Orchestra)', and completed by Elgar's masterful 'Enigma Variations'. (Note: Lloyd's nephew, William, gives a short introduction to his uncle's work, and to the concerto in particular.)
