It's already won a World Music Network award, so there should be plenty of interest in the official launch tonight of virtuosic guitarist Modarelli's solo album 'Englobed' ('Arab Spring'). Not least because it's taking place as part of this East India Club Night, curated and played at by British sarod master Datta, who's worked with artists from Beyoncé to Akram Khan. Modarelli is himself influenced by sarod techniques – having studied jazz at university, the guitarist went on to develop through the Indian Classical tradition and has collaborated with top Hindustani musicians from Bickram Ghosh to Talvin Singh. You can also expect appearances by Kefaya, the world-folk collective led by Modarelli with pianist Al MacSween, and beatboxer Jason Singh.
